Kookaburra River Party by Creatop pleases all.
by Honi Harrison-Cheshire - 27/03/2008
As official sponsors of the 2008 National Congress of the Australian Council of New Urbanism, Creatop kindly hosted the Cocktail Welcome Party aboard the glorious Kookaburra River Queen.
Boarding the River Queen at 6.30pm, delegates and guests were able to take in views of South Bank, Tenneriffe, Hawthorne and Bulimba while gliding down the Brisbane River.
After inspecting the urban developments under construction by the hue of the afternoon sun, the 200 guests and delegates aboard the ship enjoyed food, beverages, music and a light-hearted social atmosphere.
The official ACNU Welcome Cocktail Welcome Party allowed the visiting delegates to relax, mingle and meet the designers and developers of Creatop, and was nothing short of a pleasant success for all attendees.

Creatop stall steals the show at ACNU.
by Morgan Strong - 10/03/2008
The 2008 National Congress of the Australian Council of New Urbanism was held in Brisbane, Australia, 6th February 2008, and Creatop was ready to show what we had to offer.
Our stall was the only company offering IT services, so we had a lot to prove. Using a synthetic grass floor covering, recycled materials flower sculpture, and an impressive 2 meter banner, Creatop was noticed, noted and showed the ACNU what we stood for: creative solutions to any business problem.
Over the three days we created quite a stir - with our organic sculpture, unqiue printed designs, and grass creating a friendly business surrounding. One lucky Cardno executive, took out the table prize - a bottle of the Penfolds Reserve Shiraz.

Former Origin Greats welcome 750 Queensland supporters into the origin series.
by Morgan Strong - 24/05/2007
On Tuesday 22nd May 2007, the day before the first match of the Rugby League State of Origin series, the Former Origin Greats (FOGs) held their annual charity luncheon.
Over 750 people made the trip to Suncorp Stadium for the 2.5 hour lunch with entertainment, auctions, music, comedy, speeches from the legends, and importantly, unlimited XXXX beer and Yalumba wine.
One of the highlights of this years fund-raising luncheon was the FOGs auction. A pair of Queensland number plates titled "Maroon 1" sold for $31,000. Also, two bottles of 1980 Grange signed by Arthur Beetson and Chris Close sold for $11,000. In all, $59,000 was raised from six donated lots.
The Former Origin Greats do a lot of work for charities, supporting such causes as: Indigenous employment, Rugby League recruitment in remote areas, and children's health campaigns.
Last year, FOGs raised over $400,000 for their various charities and community organisations.
This year's luncheon is poised to help FOGs raise even more money in 2007.
FOGs have a special focus for 2007: The FOGs 50 Jobs Drive. This is a joint Australian Government and FOGs initiative to get the Queensland business community to offer at least 50 jobs to Indigenous Australians over the next 12 months. The luncheon helped this goal off to a flying start by presenting glossy booklets to dozens of Queensland based businesses promoting the benefits of the campaign.
FOGs are also busy in May with Maroon Day, an initiative to raise money for Childhood Cancer Support and Ronald McDonald House Charities. This kicked-off on the 23rd of May, the day of the first origin match, and the day when Queensland took the origin series to a 1-0 lead by defeating NSW 25-18.
Creatop has a long-running history with FOGs. Creatop designed and has managed the FOGs website - http://www.fogs.com.au/ - since its conception two years ago, and has recently begun working on their "Art Union" site; an application to help sell raffle tickets for house and land packages: one of FOGs' biggest income streams.

Content Manager curses Ticketek's heinous inefficiency.
Creatop content manager Morgan Strong is seething at Ticketek, and believes they are "incapable to offer even mildly acceptable professional conduct".
Mr. Strong was informed, the morning before the actual concert that the tickets were for, that his tickets were lost, and could not be replaced, despite the fact that Mr. Strong had done nothing except paid for the tickets and wait.
The ticketing giant blamed the promoter, the promoter blamed Australia Post, and Australia Post blamed Ticketek. The cycle of blame meant that the issue could never be resolved, and the tickets could not be re-issued as no party would take responsibility.
Despite Ticketek's insistence that the tickets could not be re-issued or refunded, the tickets were replaced as soon as Creatop leveraged its position as a friend of an organization that regularly does business with Ticketek.

Creatop's newest Software Engineer mourns at the closing of his favourite local bar.
After years of weekend bliss, Creatop's David Sutherland has been forced to find a new waterhole for his beloved Saturday afternoon outing.
Traditionally, Fortitude Valley bar "The Zoo" has been the hotbed of the developer's Saturday afternoon, provided free pool, 'dub' music and a relaxed atmosphere for the thirsty Brisbanite.
"It's going to be really sad watching it go", the jacket-wearing programmer reflected. "I've been going there for years, its popularity has waxed and waned, but I've always been there... Guess I have to find something else to do on Saturday now".
The Zoo was forced to cancel the regular Saturday afternoon event after they lost its cabaret license for 2007-2008 financial year. It will still continue to showcase local and international bands on evenings and nights.

Content Manager's band finishes highly anticipated new live set.
Brisbane band 'Captains of Industry' have finally compiled a new live set, after playing from the same set of songs for over three years.
Bassist, and Creatop Content Manager, Morgan Strong, was elated, "We've been playing the same songs for three years now, and although a lot of people like the old songs, we're getting pretty sick of them after playing the songs hundred of times". He went on to elaborate, "That one song, 'Ever Lovin' Thing' was written in 20 minutes on a verandah, and as our "popiest" song we always had to play it... We are so sick of that song, the new set gives a lease-of-life to the band".
Band front man and singer-songwriter Tony Byrne has been busy at work, writing most of the new songs in the last three months.
The Captains are also playing with a new line-up, after long-term drummer 'Washy' left to work in the Western Australian mines. They are due to start gigging on the new set in late-July and through August. No tour at this time has been planned.

Graphic Designer's House Broken Into.
Creatop's chief Graphic Designer Corin Edwards received a horrible shock when he discovered his Sherwood home had been broken into on the afternoon of the 19th June, 2007 at approximately 2pm.
The backdoor had been kicked down and only one possession stolen, an XBOX 360 that had been purchased only days before. Also, all the controllers and games had been taken- the total losses were over $1000, money spent only days before the incident.
A police report was filed, but there are no solid leads.
For further information on similar losses read this forum article.

Software Engineer's stomache woes continue.
After months of treatment and misdiagnosis, software engineer Jay Sweeney is becoming vexed at missing the spicy and rich foods he once enjoyed so freely.
"I can't eat that anymore", is becoming an all too common catch-phrase for the 6'2 developer, "I love chilli and spicy foods, but I should probably get the chicken fried rice', the ginger boffin was forced to concede.
Even after hundreds of dollars in medical appointments and medication, doctors have come no closer to reveal the source of the discomfort.
Ulcers were initially suspected, but have since been ruled out.
